This post is in response to comments I received on my Horrible, Obvious Plastic Surgery post. I figured it would get some people stirred up and it did. So here are some more thoughts and responses to their comments.
"Actually if people who have defective brains and hearts who are so unloving to others who have defects would stop having children with the same closed brains and cold hearts, this world would be a much better place to live. yes that means you."
Dear Anonymous,
You're right. People like me should NOT have children! I'm hateful, mean, filled with rage, and my physical condition is not one that I'd want to pass down to children. My brother and I both have digestive problems. Nearly my whole family suffers from asthma and allergies. I had a major (very painful) surgery to correct my scoliosis at age 19. And my nostrils close up when I'm lying down, making it difficult to breathe when I'm sleeping (which is another trait that my whole family has). I think any child of mine would have even worse health problems than me and I wouldn't wish that on anyone, no matter how badly I thought I wanted to have children.
The good thing is, I love living alone and I can't imagine ever having my space invaded by noisy, messy little rugrats. So I'm perfectly happy to not have any children. Unfortunately, most of us have been brainwashed into believing that you "grow up, get married, and have kids". No one mentions the divorce that we all go through and the exhausting life of a single mom that most women are living. People don't understand that having children is optional and that we should all look at ourselves carefully and make an objective decision about childbearing based on our genetic predispositions, our physical, mental, and emotional health, and environmental concerns like overpopulation, the energy crisis, and what all these people are doing to the Earth and the oceans. Humans tend to be self-serving creatures. As long as the Earth holds up while they and their children are living, they don't care about the destruction that may be taking place as a result of their decision to add to the surplus population.
Maybe you haven't heard about the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch." It's a "giant floating debris field, composed mostly of bits and pieces of plastic, in the northwest Pacific Ocean." It's hundreds, maybe thousands of miles across, maybe as large as Texas. This kind of nastiness is a direct result of people's adorable little babies, who grow up and trash the Earth. I'm no different. I recycle. I even drive 30 miles just to recycle my plastics because my hometown is too backward to offer plastic recycling. But that doesn't mean I'm not contributing to the huge trash problem in our world. I still purchase tons of products that end up in landfills. Even now, knowing the environmental problems we have, the government is encouraging us all to BUY MORE STUFF to keep the economy healthy. Our attempts at keeping our economy healthy is killing our planet.
As much as I don't want to bash on disfigured people (it's actually their parents I'm criticizing), I would like to encourage people to really consider the issue of having children before they have them. Read some books about the "childfree" lifestyle to learn more about it.
Another comment about the claw-handed children said "it's only their fingers," as if fingers aren't a big deal... well, that's a little silly. We use fingers and hands for nearly everything - eating, drinking, wiping our ass, sex, picking boogers, playing, fighting... I could go on. The point is, fingers are extremely important, and in my view life is difficult enough for most of us without having the additional burden of disfigured hands.
People are so focused on attractiveness nowadays. If you have an obvious physical defect, you will be discriminated against, no matter how much your mommy loves you. No matter how crazy I was, the fact that I was moderately attractive was enough to always get me decent jobs, even being chosen over people who were more qualified. I really hate that the world is this way (at least America is) but I didn't create this mess, I'm just observing it and living it.
It sucks that some people are offended, but no one visits websites that say the same old, boring, politically correct stuff. They want personal and outrageous opinions - the more controversial, the better. People don't read my writings because they're sweet. They read them because I write what I'm thinking, even when it's not what everyone wants to hear. Because I know that someone, somewhere is thinking the same thing and they may feel like they're the only one that feels that way. Then they find me and realize that they aren't alone. People are just too afraid to express their true opinion because they think people will stop liking them. What I've found is that the more candid I am with my thoughts, the more people read what I'm writing. They appreciate honesty, even if they don't agree with my personal opinions.
Oh yeah, and I'm definitely NOT a republican. I'm very liberal. But obviously I'm not that liberal when it comes to letting everyone make their own personal choices since I think the vast majority of people are too ignorant to make intelligent choices.
And yes, I'll cuss out God. Dammit God! What the fuck are you thinking? I don't even believe you care about any of us! The horrors that many people live through (or die from) are just too awful for me believe that a loving God exists. Men can be so incredibly evil that to believe they were "made in the image of God" can only mean one thing - that God is evil too. (Not that I believe in that Bible nonsense anyway.) So screw you, God. Kiss my ass.
Thanks for reading and leaving your comments, even the mean ones. :)
